Cable trays should have measures to prevent cable scraping, such as using arc-shaped fittings for various bends, tees, and crosses. Cable drop devices should be used when cables descend. When cable trays enter indoors from outdoors (e.g., substations), they should be sealed, which can be achieved using fireproof sealing compounds, sand seals, etc. Additionally, cable trays should slope outward, typically at a 1% gradient, to prevent rainwater backflow.

When cable trays are installed horizontally, connectors between trays should be positioned approximately at one-quarter of the span. Horizontally run cables should be secured every 2 meters, and vertically run cables every 1.5 meters. Cable trays must have reliable grounding, and the entire tray should maintain good electrical continuity. The connection resistance at joints should not exceed 0.00033 ohms. Long-distance cable trays should include temperature compensation measures (generally every 30 meters for steel trays and every 15 meters for aluminum alloy trays). Cable trays should be grounded every 30 to 50 meters.
